UGAT Folk Rock Classics Tops Record Charts Anew

This digitally remastered collection, that’s topping the Odyssey Music stores’ charts, includes Ka Freddie in his landmark hit “Anak” and his Metropop fest winning interpretation of “Bulag, Pipi at Bingi” while Asin is featured here with their hits “Masdan Mo Ang Kapaligiran” and “Pagbabalik.” Also included here are the hits of other 70’s folk heavyweights like Florante with “Handog” and “Ako’y Pinoy” as well as Banyuhay Ni Heber with “Tayo’y Mga Pinoy”. The roots of Pinoy rock is also represented here with the inclusion of the OPM anthem “Himig Natin” by the Juan Dela Cruz band and their contemporaries Sampaguita and Maria Cafra with their trademark hits “Bonggahan” and “Kumusta Mga Kaibigan” respectively. While these classic folk and rock artists and songs are instantly recognizable, some of the tunes here come from other unique 70’s outfits that produced remarkable songs like “Problema Na Naman” by the Sino Band, “I Am Sorry” by Sarj, “Dukha” and “Batugan” by Judas while tracks from Coritha (“Oras Na”) , Penpen (“Penpen De Sarapen”) Lolita & The Boys (“Usok”) and Gary Granada (“Kahit Konti”) further complements this folk-rock collection. UGAT: The Best Of Pinoy Folk Rock is the newest addition to Viva Records and Vicor Music’s “OPM’s Best: Powerhouse Collection” campaign; a growing collection of thematic, all-original, and digitally re-mastered OPM compilation albums. Previous releases include “Senti”, “Signature Hits” and “Pinoy Soundtrip” series.
This album is available at all Odyssey Music & Video, Astrovision and SM Record bars and is supported by media partners Jam 88.3, RJ 100 and NU 107 and The Manila Bulletin.
