Hardtail rules...

love to have it and looking forward to ride this rigid one!

Pace RC127 frame – just in

It's not yet reached production, but Bike Radar have taken delivery of the RC127, a new mountain bike frame from British firm Pace. The 650b steel hardtail will retail for £499.

The RC127 is made from Reynolds 853 steel, which immediately sets it apart from a lot of its alloy-framed competition, even more so when you notice the steel head tube gussets and slim, loop-bridged rear stays. However, there's nothing retro about those 650b (27.5in) wheels or the potential capability of the frame.

The head tube is compatible with tapered forks and has been designed around a 140mm travel model. There will be dropper post cable guides and ISCG mounts on the production frame. At the rear, there are adjustable dropouts, and a 142x12mm version is in the pipeline.

Spec-wise, this pre-production model is kitted out with a short stem and wide riser bar, both by Truvativ. The 650b wheels are Stan's ZTR Arch EX rims with Hope Pro 2 hubs and Schwalbe Nobby Nic tyres.

Pace's new frame, the RC127. It's still in pre-production, so some details may change, but the clean, sharp lines of the frame won't

Our Pace RC127 build came with a SRAM X7 2x10 drivetrain

Our test Pace RC127 came with Avid Elixir 9 brakes with 180/160mm discs

The RC127 frame is designed around a 140mm fork and 650b (27.5in) wheels, and Pace has built this prototype up with a RockShox Revelation RCT3 fork
